In March 2021, the City of Surrey applied to the Consider Canada Cities Alliance to join Canada’s leading municipal foreign direct investment focused economic development agencies and has now been accepted into the alliance as the thirteenth municipality.

The Consider Canada City Alliance (CCCA) is the nation’s leading network of cross-Canada investment agencies attracting foreign direct investment (FDI) into Canada. The CCCA unites Canada’s largest municipal regions in building a sustainable and globally competitive national economy and is a key stakeholder in consulting the federal government on FDI attraction priorities. Member economic development municipalities include:

  • Calgary Economic Development
  • Edmonton Global
  • Halifax Partnership
  • Invest in Hamilton
  • Invest Ottawa
  • London Economic Development Corporation
  • Montréal International
  • Québec International
  • Toronto Global
  • WaterlooEDC
  • Vancouver Economic Commission

We are excited the City of Surrey has joined the Consider Canada City Alliance. As we emerge from the pandemic, driving our economic growth and strengthening Canada’s position as a global destination for foreign investment is more important than ever. Surrey looks forward to working with CCCA’s network of major Canadian cities to achieve that goal. - Mayor Doug McCallum

This milestone is the result of the City’s increasing FDI attraction efforts since the development of the City of Surrey’s FDI strategy in 2016. These efforts have raised the city’s profile in the global business landscape in key markets including Europe, Asia and the United States, especially along the Cascadia Innovation Corridor.

The result is Surrey being increasingly recommended and considered for expansion and relocation initiatives by large, multinational companies. Over the past few years, Surrey has seen a significant number of foreign companies in the information and communications technology, pharmaceutical, and manufacturing sectors joining our city.
